Welcome to the new revised and updated Gallery of Roman Emperors and Empresses. The first version of this site, a humble Geocities hosted website was created by me several years ago to showcase Roman sculptural art directly related to the men and women who ruled the Roman empire. The space constraints, and my lack of web designing experience resulted in a basic site which nonetheless enjoyed some success.
Now, after three years languishing on Geocities, the Gallery has been brought here, alongside my personal coin collections. With a greatly improved capacity I now hope to be able to provide pictures of the vast majority of statues identified, as reliably as possible. This is a non-profit site with no commercial aspects, I have no connection to any museum and the pictures are shamelessly taken from many sites. No breach of copyright is intended, these are ancient statues, part of both Western and Eastern cultural heritage, and they deserve to be seen together regardless of their present physical location. This site is not meant as an authoritative reference however, it is purely an image gallery.
Pictures are large and loading times may be significant. All statues are as identified by their museums, I cannot vouch for their accuracy but it is reasonable to assume they are accurate. Any dubious attributions will be noted, if included at all.
